SOKIA total station operating system

The resection method for a Sokkia Total Station is a precise technique used to determine the coordinates of an unknown point by measuring angles and distances to known points. To begin, set up and level the Total Station over the unknown point, power it on, and select "Resection" from the menu. Input the coordinates of at least three known points into the instrument. Next, sight and measure angles and distances to these known points using reflector prisms and the EDM function. The Total Station then calculates the unknown point’s coordinates based on these measurements. Verify the calculated coordinates against available references to ensure accuracy. Save and transfer the data to a computer or data logger for further analysis. For optimal results, ensure the Total Station and prisms are well-calibrated, double-check all input coordinates, and conduct surveys in stable weather conditions. By following these steps, the resection method allows for the accurate determination of an unknown point's coordinates.
