How to Convert SDR Files to Excel and Back to SDR
Welcome to Daily Survey Gets! Today, we'll cover how to convert an SDR file from a Total Station to Excel, edit it, and convert it back to SDR format.
Converting SDR to Excel
Start with the SDR File
Copy the SDR file from your Total Station. Open it, select all data withCtrl+A
, thenCtrl+C
to copy.Paste into Excel
Open a new Excel sheet, paste the data into the first row and column. You'll see data in one column—this contains details like point numbers, coordinates, and elevations.Remove Extra Details
Delete job details at the top to focus on the coordinate data. We’ll use Excel’s "Text to Columns" tool next to separate it.Separate Columns
Go to the Data menu, select Text to Columns > Fixed Width. Add dividers to separate data by point name, easting, northing, and elevation.Clean Up
Delete unnecessary columns, then arrange data by easting, northing, and level. You can save this as a CSV or Text file.
Converting Excel Back to SDR
Open SOKIA Link
Use SOKIA Link software, found in the video description, to convert the CSV or Text file back into SDR format.Register Software
For SOKIA Link, register using an SDR file on USB. Install and select your USB to complete registration.Load Data and Export
Open your saved Text file in SOKIA Link, ensuring correct column formatting (easting, northing, level). Export it as SDR 333 format compatible with Total Stations.
